Yesterday, a coworker of mine leaned towards me while I was perusing the internet and started laughing at me. I whirled around (not knowing she was there), and gave her an innocent look. “What?! I like them. I think I could pull them off.” She just grinned and shook her head. What was I looking at? Oh, just a pair of polarized Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses. I’ll admit that I’ve never been drawn to that look in the past, but with all the fun in the air I’ve been having, I can’t help but want to indulge in the fantasy and play the part. I already have a set of airliner wings, so all I need are the shades and the jacket… and I’m set!
It’s amusing how easily you can adopt something as a new part of you. I was filling up my car with gas recently, and as the guy handed me the receipt, something in my back seat caught his eye. I had the CHAMP in the car in case the weather improved enough to fly, and was surprised that he mentioned it. “That looks like a neat craft. It is fun to fly?” He asked. “Oh yeah, even more so since I’m starting to get good at it.” “Wait, so, you actually fly it?” he said. “Yep. Fly, attempt to fly, crash, and fly again. I love it,” I responded with pride. He gave a nod of what looked like respect, and wished me a good day of flying. As I drove away, I couldn’t help but smile with the realization that I truly am becoming a female R/C pilot. Though, I still have a great deal of practicing ahead of me. =)
